%X The present thesis explores the linguistic characteristics of phraseological units functioning within the sphere of economics in the English and Uzbek languages. Although economic discourse is traditionally associated with precision, statistics, and terminological clarity, it is also rich in stable figurative expressions that shape the way economic processes are conceptualized and communicated. Phraseological units serve not only as stylistic devices but also as cognitive mechanisms that help structure abstract financial knowledge and make it accessible to both specialists and the broader public. The research aims to identify structural, semantic, cognitive, and pragmatic features of economic phraseological units in English and Uzbek and to conduct a comparative analysis of their similarities and differences. Special attention is paid to metaphorical models underlying economic phraseology, including the conceptualization of the economy as a living organism, a mechanism, a battlefield, or a dynamic movement. The study also examines the processes of borrowing, adaptation, and terminologization that influence the development of economic phraseology, particularly in Uzbek, under conditions of globalization. The methodological framework combines comparative analysis, semantic interpretation, contextual examination, and elements of cognitive linguistics.
