%X The article explores the development of the historical novel genre in modern Azerbaijani literature and the artistic reconstruction of male characters within this framework. The study focuses on the emergence of a national perspective free from Soviet ideological influence and the renewed literary interpretation of past and recent historical events. Using Chingiz Huseynov’s “Doctor N.”, Ismayil Shykhly’s “My Dying World”, and Sabir Rustamkhanli’s “The Land of Khatai” as examples, the paper analyzes how writers portray historical figures and the idea of national independence.
