Ko‘kturk yozuvi VI–VIII asrlarda shakllangan bo‘lib, u turkiy tillarning ilk milliyyozuv tizimi hisoblanadi. Maqolada yozuvdagi unli va undosh tovushlarning ifodalanish tamoyillari, unlilarning ba’zi holatlarda tushirib qoldirilish sabablari hamda fonetik uyg‘unlik qonuni asosida harflarning qo‘llanishi yoritilgan. Shuningdek, O‘rxun-Enasoy bitiklarining tarixiy ahamiyati, ularni dastlab qayd etgan Yevropa va rus tadqiqotchilari faoliyati ham tahlil qilinadi.
