N2  - In a phase of globalization, multicultural societies have become the norm, necessitating a deeper understanding of how language functions in multifaceted communities. Modern linguistics plays a vital role in analysing the interplay between languages, identity, and communication in multicultural settings. This paper explores key linguistic phenomena such as code-switching, language contact, multilingualism, and linguistic diversity. It examines the role of language policies, digital communication, and linguistic inclusivity in shaping social interactions. Moreover, the research highlights the challenges of language preservation and language shift within multicultural societies. By investigating theoretical frameworks and real-world linguistic trends, this study aims to provide insights into how modern linguistics contributes to fostering social cohesion and effective communication in diverse societies.
