%X Poetic translation is a complex field that goes beyond simple linguistic conversion, requiring careful consideration of both the form and content of the original work. This article explores the major challenges translators face in capturing not only the literal meaning of a poem but also its rhythm, rhyme, cultural context, ambiguity, sound, and emotional tone. By balancing these elements, translators attempt to recreate the poem’s aesthetic and emotional impact in a new language, while often making difficult choices that involve adapting the poem’s structure and cultural references. Different approaches to poetic translation—faithful versus free— highlight the diversity of strategies used to bridge linguistic and cultural divides. Ultimately, translating poetry is an art form, demanding both linguistic skill and creative intuition to preserve the integrity of the original work.
