Tadqiqotda metaforaning leksik-semantik tabiatiga, uning badiiy nutqdagi obrazlilikni kuchaytirishdagi o‘rniga hamda muallifning individual uslubini shakllantirishdagi ahamiyatiga alohida e’tibor qaratiladi. Shuningdek, badiiy matnlarda metafora asosida yuzaga keladigan ma’no ko‘chishining o‘xshashlik, assotsiatsiya va tasavvur kabi semantik omillar bilan bog‘liqligi ilmiy jihatdan yoritiladi. Tadqiqot jarayonida o‘zbek adabiy asarlaridan olingan misollar asosida metaforaning semantik va stilistik funksiyalari tahlil qilinadi.
